      The Sandwich Park District offers a wide variety of travel programs for adults.  Whether you enjoy plays or dinner theater, shopping trips or casinos, there is something for everyone!  Our program coordinator, Christine McMahon, will act as your hostess and will make sure you have an enjoyable experience, whatever you choose.

LUNCH BUNCH - GENERAL INFORMATION

Register for our Lunch Bunch outings and enjoy food, fun and fellowship. Each trip is a wonderful opportunity to try different restaurants you might not venture to on your own. Our fee includes park district van transportation and escort. The meal cost and gratuity are "on your own". As time permits, browsing in area shops is included. NOTE: A step stool is used to enter and exit the park district van.

LUNCH BUNCH - Turf Room

Lunch Bunch trips are available for adults that like being out and about and experiencing new restaurants.  Van transportation is provided.  Participants select and pay for their own menu selections.  Menus are distributed en route so participants can get an idea of what to order upon arrival.  If time permits, browsing in area shops is included.  A minimum of 9 participants is required for these trips.  Please note, a step stool is used for entering and exiting the van.  The menu selection for the Turf Room includes, lobster pot pie, baja chicken lasagna, a "flat iron" steak option, specialty salads and homemade dessert.  Prices range from $8.95 to $20.95 for entrees and $6.95 and up for desserts.

LUNCH BUNCH - Urban Grille

Burgers, city-style, at this newer Geneva, IL restaurant never tasted so good!  According to the restaurant's owner, the most popular food in the United States is the hamburger.  A menu was created to glorify the burger and it is offered in a myriad of ways.  Choose between beef, turkey, salmon, chicken breast, or organic veggie and then choose how to have it cooked. . .wood-fire grill, char-broil, or simply grill it!  Now choose your bread. . . specialty white, wheat, ciabatta, or focaccia.  Then choose between 17 cheeses, a sauce and toppings.  Other sandwiches, salads, pizza and specialty entrees are available also.  Prices range from $7.95 for sandwiches to $20.95 for entrees.

DINNER THEATER

TONY N' TINA'S WEDDING    Piper's Alley Theater, Chicago

You are invited to the wedding of Tony and Tina at Piper's Alley Theater in Chicago.  This trip includes motor coach transportation, a champagne toast, an unlimited Italian lunch buffet and wedding cake for dessert.  This audience-participation production satirizes an Italian-American wedding in which the audience becomes involved in every facet of the wedding from the ceremony to the reception.  As a guest, you will get involved with hilarious cast of 32 larger-than-life characters just as you would at your own family's wedding.  How much you participate is completely up to you.  Be prepared for a truly unforgettable afternoon filled with many other surprises and antics that are sure to entertain.  The meal includes pizza bread, honeymoon salad, baked mostaccioli, pasta primavera and Italian sausage with peppers and onions.  The meal is served around 1:15 p.m.  Have a late breakfast or mid-morning snack before the trip).  This show is 2 1/2 hours long.

WHITE FENCE FARM & MESTA'S MUSICALS

God Bless America!  Watch history unfold in this musical tribute to our country.  Robert and Lori Mesta, with their son, Elliott, sing a variety of patriotic songs and portray historical figures to celebrate our nation.  This dynamic multimedia presentation honoring our country and those who served will make you proud to be an American!  The famous White Fence Farm chicken dinner is included and is served family-style with homemade corn fritters, cottage cheese, cole slaw, kidney bean salad, a baked potato, homemade chicken gravy, choice of beverage and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

SHOWTIME IN THE SMOKIES

The beauty and splendor of the majestic Smokey Mountains for 6 wonderful days!  Tour includes a guided tour of the Great Smokey Mountains, live Smokies entertainment including the Smith Family Theater, Black Bear Jamboree, Dollywood Music Park, the Biltmore Estate, and Nashville sight-seeing including the Ryman Auditorium, the Nashville Best of Country Music Show and dinner.  This Mayflower tour includes 9 meals, 4 dinners and 5 breakfasts.  Hotel accommodations are at the Baymont Inn, Music Road Inn and Hotel and the LaQuinta Inn.  Mayflower catalogs and flyers are available at the Sandwich Park District office which include all details of the trip.

CHICAGO CUBS VS. COLORADO ROCKIES    Registration for Games begin May 1st.

Holy Cow!  It's another great day at Wrigley Field.  Join in the fun rooting the Cubbies to victory.  This trip includes terrace reserve seats and deluxe motorcoach transportation.  Participants will depart from the motorcoach on Waveland Avenue, within a block of the Gate "K" entrance.  An elevator is available for those with limited walking ability.  A short distance from the entrance, once on the second floor, cement stairs (without handrails) are used to access the seats in the terrace reserve area.

SHIPSHEWANA       Shipshewana, Indiana

Located in Northern Indiana, in the heart of Amish country, the flea market has over 900 vendors and offers something for everyone.  Participants will have the whole day to explore the market, or the many quaint country shops, offering quilts, crafts, antiques and more.  Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather and remember to respect the religious beliefs of the Amish.  No photos, please.  Transportation only is provided with lunch on your own.  NOTE:  Due to the distance we will be traveling, quick comfort stops will be made along the way.  A light morning snack and bottled water are provided.

GREAT TASTES OF CHICAGO

Experience the culinary delights of Chicago - as diverse as the city itself!  Join in the fun of this fascinating and delicious world from creation to consumption.  Tasting at all stops included.  Locations include an ethnic bakery, a wonderfully scented shop of spices, a chocolate boutique, a unique shop that specializes in different olive oils and vinegars, a nut & sweet shop and a grocery emporium.  A gourmet lunch is included and is prepared by graduate chefs of a premier culinary school.  Discover the fascinating curriculum of the school and how students are educated in every aspect of food from American Regional to International cuisine and how the culinary field is growing in may ways.  Participants must be able to stand in the same location for a short periods.  This tour does not require walking long distances but participants must be able to move easily on and off the bus.

ARCHITECTURAL RIVER TOUR

This popular tour is back!  Chicago Line Cruises are docked right at street level on McClurg Court thus providing easy on/off access to and from the boat.  View the magnificent architectural structures, the new residential areas and learn the history behind a 2,800 acre lakefront that is the envy of cities around the world.  Box lunches from Fox a Obel are included.  Please select one of the following items:  Mayberry Chicken Salad, Turkey Sandwich, Cranberry and Brie Sandwich, a Fox & Obel Club Sandwich, a Double Take Salad or a Fox & Obel Cobb Salad.  The sandwich meals include house-made kettle chips, whole fruit and dessert.  The salads include a French roll, whole fruit and a house-made dessert.  A water bottle is included in both choices.  REMEMBER:  Tips for the motorcoach driver and the historical docent is not included in the fee.

FONTANA WISCONSIN LOBSTER BOIL

Join in this social gathering right on the lakefront in the village of Fontana, Wisconsin.  Live music plays all day.  More than 2100 meals are served.  Over 1500 tables and chairs are set up for this event under large tents along the lakefront.  The fee only includes transportation.  A short stop to purchase advance tickets will be made before arriving at the festival.  The 12/14 oz. lobster tail usually costs between $26 - $29.  The 14 oz. rib eye steak meal tickets are approximately $19 to $21.  Serving begins at 3:00 p.m.  Everyone with a ticket is guaranteed a meal.

BREWERS VS. CHICAGO CUBS    Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI     Registration for Games Begins May 1st

It's time to head to Miller Park, not to cheer for the Brewers, but to show support for the Chicago Cubs!  Enjoy a fun fan bus ride to Milwaukee and an afternoon of America's favorite past-time.  Miller Park offers escalators, elevators and ramps for easy access to all seats.  The departure time allows for an early arrival time and the seats are reserved terrace lodge seating located in section 231 beginning with row 16.  Section 231 is along the 3rd base visitor's side.  Be sure to wear sunscreen as the seats are not under a canopy.

THE DANCING HORSES    Delevan, Wisconsin

Participants will be amazed!  Several different breeds of horses are featured that will grace the arena with their own style.  Each horse is powerful and majestic, in superb physical shape, very agile and highly intelligent and of course just simply beautiful!  Just like the title says, the horsed do dance.  Each performance is choreographed and costumed. . . . a spectacular revue with all the elements of a Las Vegas show.  The finale ends with the Dancing Waters, a kaleidoscope show production of water igniting into fountains of lights and special effects leaving the audience spellbound.  A wonderful full hot buffet lunch including soup and salad is included at the wonderful Lakelawn Lodge Frontier Restaurant.  Limited walking ability is needed for this day trip

ELKHORN ANTIQUE FLEA MARKET   Elkhorn, Wisconsin

An Antiquer's Delight!!  This antique and flea market is one of the Midwest's greatest shows.  Over 500 dealers are a part of the market offering a large range of merchandise from furniture in-the-rough to fine refinished.  There is also glassware, pottery, advertising paraphernalia, linens, decoys, dolls and everything in between.  Vendors are located throughout the Walworth County Fairgrounds utilizing space in buildings and in the grassy area along the paved walkways.  This trip provides transportation and entrance fees to the antique market.  Meals are "on your own".  Food vendors offer a large variety of snacks, sandwiches, turkey legs, corn and more!

Enjoy the evening at U.S. Cellular Field.  Cheer the White Sox to victory over the Seattle Mariners.  Seats are located in section 153 near the concourse, concessions and "facilities".  Gather your friends and family for a "grand slam" good time.  Game time is 7:11 p.m.   Motorcoach transportation and ticket are included in the price.

Experience the lives and legacies of Chicago's wealthiest.  Learn how they made their fortunes, visit one of their glorious churches and enjoy a walk through Chicago's newest centerpiece, Millenium Park, funded by Chicago's wealthiest!  Today these magnificent places are open to everyone!.  This tour is guided by "My Kind of Town" tours.  Plenty of time will be allowed at Millenium Park to accommodate those with slower walking ability.  Park benches can be utilized often during the tour, as well. (Of course, our first stop off the bus will be the washrooms!)  Lunch is included in a beautiful atrium setting surrounded by a waterfall, towering green plants, sculptures and sunlight.  Bring a friend and a camera and enjoy a day in Chicago!

FOUR WINDS CASINO AND RESORT     Trip is full. . . Waiting List Only

Experience the excitement of the premier casino in the Midwest on January 2, 2008.  The motor coach will depart at 8:30 a.m. and return about 6:30 p.m.  Located in New Buffalo, Michigan, about a 2 1/2 hour drive, this casino offers over 3,000 of the most sought after slots ranging in denominations from 1 cent to $100.00.  All the popular table games are available, too.  If poker is your game, Four Winds has the only World Poker room in the Midwest.  New guests to the casino will receive a W-Club Card with $10 instant slot credit, valid only on the slots and $10 in loyalty play which is valid for food, retail or slot play.  Participants that are already W-Club members will receive $10 loyalty and $5 instant slot credit. Registration must be complete by December 28.  In cast of inclement weather (roads are snow or ice covered or there is a threat of extreme weather), the trip will be postponed to another date.

The casino's grand lobby lights up the night sky with a faux flame atop a 120 foot tower, symbolic of the Potowatomi tribe role as "Keeper of the Fire".  Native natural themes combine with all the elements of a world class entertainment experience to provide guests with Las Vegas-style gaming.  Slots, table games or bingo.  Choose whatever you like best!  This day trip package offers round-trip transportation, a free lunch buffet and loads of gaming excitement.  The matinee bingo session is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Participants will arrive at the casino early enough to have lunch before the Bingo session.  A photo I.D. is required on the day of the trip.  A $10 gaming voucher is earned when 50 points are accumulated on your player card.
