SANDWICH GIRLS SOFTBALL:
U Level – 8U is designed primarily for 7 and 8 year old girls as the beginning point for learning girls’ softball. 8U is a developmental step designed to teach softball fundamentals in a fun atmosphere. At this level, there are no wins and no losses, and the coaches pitch to the girls. Basic hitting and defensive skills are the focus and are very similar to the 10U level.
U Level– The 10U continues the focus on developing skills, but pitching becomes the responsibility of the players, instead of coaches. 10U also adds a competitive element as wins, losses and a Princess League post-season tournament become part of the experience.
U Level– At the intermediate 12U level, the game increases in size, speed, and competition level; just as girl’s physical growth begins to speed up. Skills are taught at a higher level, and more athletic training is used to develop improved speed and agility. Field dimensions increase to be the same as high school.
U Level– 14U incorporates the same rules as high school and the level of competition increases further as girls develop their athletic skills to a higher level in preparation for high school softball. At this level, the SPDGSL League removes the requirement for girls to play a minimum number of innings.General Information: A team jersey is included in your fee. Fee does not include softball glove or softball pants, all of which are required.
