Dear Sandwich Park District Participants,

With the continued threat of the COVID-19 virus, it is the responsibility of the Sandwich Park District to keep all of our participants safe. At this time Governor Pritzker ordered all Illinois Schools be closed until March 30. Sandwich School District 430 has announced schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16th through Monday, March 30th. The Sandwich Park District will follow the lead of the State of Illinois and Sandwich School District 430. We will close all Mother Goose and Pre-k Friday programs starting Monday March 16th and we will resume class on Tuesday March 31st. To ensure the safety of all participants the Sandwich Park District will also cancel/postpone the following programs:

These programs are canceled/postponed until further notice. We will contact you when and if these programs/events will resume along with the new dates. Our office will remain open at this time. This is a hard decision made by the Sandwich Park District, but we have made these decisions with the health and safety of our residents in mind. We recommend that if you feel sick or have symptoms of the flu to stay home and practice good hygiene. While we have halted our programs and events, we still encourage you to stay active during these times and find fun activities you can do in your home. Board games, video games, blanket forts, and arts and crafts are great ways to keep you active and entertained.

The Mother Goose Club:

Our Mother Goose Club is for  preschool aged children and runs on a monthly basis from September through June.  Children attend two times a week for two hours. Class size is limited.

What to expect from the Mother Goose Club:

Your child can expect a safe, warm and secure environment with developmentally appropriate activities, materials and equipment. Children are encouraged to express themselves through math, science, art and manipulative play experiences. “Together Time”, with stories, songs and finger plays adds to the fun; along with large and small muscle activities. The alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and name printing are introduced, along with counting and cutting skills. A nutritious snack is provided as well.

Our Philosophy:

Young children learn best through hands-on experiences and need many opportunities to express their feelings.  Emphasis is placed on social, emotional, intellectual and physical development with our “learn through play” approach. The program is designed to encourage play, which is a child’s primary means of expression and problem solving.

For Ages:

Three (3) , four (4) and five (5) / Children must be potty trained

Sessions Offered:

Days:  Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday

Times:  9:00 to 11:00 a.m. or 12:15 to 2:15 p.m.

Monthly Fees:   Refer to current Program Guide.

Fees are for the entire academic school year and are not reduced or discounted during the term for holidays or breaks.  Ask about our Non-resident Card which entitles you to one year of resident rates for your whole family from the date of purchase.

Wait List:

For entry into the Mother Goose Club it is necessary to place your child on our Mother Goose wait list. Class size is limited to 13 in each group. It is never too early to place your child on this list … we even have BABIES! Call and leave a message for Barb Olin at (815) 786-8044.

Pre-K Fridays:

The first session of this class will meet each Friday for 10 weeks. We will help build fundamental skills through fun activities, manipulatives and more!

Many opportunities for self-expression, yet structured activities as well. This 10-week class is open to all children who will be starting Kindergarten next fall.

Children already enrolled in the Mother Goose Club will get first priority. Enrollment is on a “first come” basis with a maximum of 12 children.
